Sirma Group bestowed two prizes in the National competition “Young talents” PDF Print E-mail

The software company Sirma Group Holding gave two of the prizes to the winners in the National competition “Young talents” 2011. 24 teams took part in the competition. The prizes were awarded on a ceremony on 27th May. Yavor Djonev, chairman of the Advisory board of Sirma group, bestowed the prizes on behalf of the company.

The company has serious traditions in supporting education, which is among its main priorities from the very founding of Sirma. In recent years it has participated in many educational initiatives in partnership with state institutions, NGOs and business organizations. The Sirma Media business subdivision is the first Bulgarian publisher of multimedia textbooks, encyclopedias and other books and its team is the creator of the “Classroom of the future” concept that will change completely the way students perceive knowledge. Sirma Media also takes part in the „ICT Action plan – support of lifelong learning” project, financed by the European commission through the lifelong learning program. The company is the leading partner on the “Information and communication technologies for the lifelong learning” project.

„The National competition “Young talents” is of especially high value to us, because it shows to the young people in Bulgaria that success can be achieved using knowledge and creativity. These values correspond completely to the values of Sirma Group as a company developing business on the basis of knowledge and it was completely natural to support this initiative “ – said Yavor Djonev after the ceremony. He himself has taken part in many discussions and has presented lectures on the need for changes in the educational system and the way for implementing these changes.

The projects given prizes by Sirma are „The interactive physicists films“ in the field of Natural sciences, developed by Daniel Tzvetkov and Alexander Lalev of NMHS „Acad. L. Chakalov”, Sofia, as well as „ARISTOTELUS – an internetapplication for the management of network space“ in the field of Communication and information technologies, developed by Alexander Aramov and Bojimir Marinov of NMHS „Acad. Ivan Giuzelev”, Gabrovo. The two teams received respectively Bulgarian encyclopedia A-Z – second edition, the Electronic encyclopedia „History of Bulgaria” and the Electronic dictionary Oxford-Duden for the first project as well as a six months of unlimited access to Safari Books Online and a photo camera for the second project. The participants on the first three places in the national competition will take part in the European competition “Young talents”. All prizes were sponsored by Sirma Media.
