Thirteen pilot schools will be equipped with new mobile computer classrooms, that will considerably expand the possibilities for interactive education and will save school expenses

The classroom of the future concept, created by the tech company Sirma Media, will be introduced in the Bulgarian schools this Autumn. As a part of a pilot project in thirteen schools new mobile computer classrooms will be created equipped with Intel Classmate PCs with rich educational content, software for interactive communication between teachers and students, as well as a mobile charge and storage solution for transportation of the laptops to the classrooms.

The computer classrooms will from now on be suitable not only for IT subjects, but for the whole curriculum – literature, history, mathematics, natural sciences, foreign languages etc. It’s expected that they will expand considerably the possibilities for interactive education, as well as will save school expenses. The licenses for the educational software will be provided for free.

The new mobile classrooms will be presented in nine cities - Varna, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Russe, Assenovgrad, Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Veliko Tarnovo and Vidin.
„Our aim is to demonstrate that the classroom of the future can be used in every Bulgarian school. This is a change of a big scale which will facilitate the improvement of the educational process, its turning into a fun and dynamic experience for the students, which leads to development of the key competences – said Alexandar Angelov, marketing manager of Sirma Media.

The student laptops have internet access, which allows the children to use various additional sources. The teacher can also manage the access to various websites and is able to see in any moment the screen of every student computer and is able to remotely shut down programs.

At present the classroom of the future is functioning in:
The Bulgarian school in Nicosia, Cyprus.
MHS „Dr Petar Beron”, Varna
NMHS  „Acad. prof. Dr Assen Zlatarov”, Botevgrad
HS „St Paissiy Hilendarski”, Zlatitsa
•    71 HS „P. Yavorov”, Kazichene
•    30 HS „Bratia Miladinovi”, Sofia
•    11 HS „Elin Pelin”, Pernik

If the pilot project is successful, during the next year the classroom of the future will be integrated in 60 more schools.
